About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the Urology Clinic at UAB is responsible for providing independent medical care and treatment for patients with various urological conditions. This full-time position requires the APP to coordinate patient care, perform comprehensive assessments, and collaborate with a supervising physician to ensure high-quality healthcare delivery. The role emphasizes patient education, documentation, and participation in performance improvement activities.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Nursing with Family NP or Adult Primary NP certification, or graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with CRNP Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing or licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners with PA-C certification.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) or should obtain within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• At least two years of clinical experience, preferably in Primary Care.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement comprehensive patient care plans based on thorough physical and psychosocial assessments.
• Ensure complete documentation of patient assessments, care plans, and care provided.
• Order and interpret laboratory and other diagnostic tests for patients.
• Maintain records and reports as required by regulatory agencies and The Joint Commission (TJC).
• Assist in the coordination of research protocols and serve as a patient advocate.
• Provide assistance in the orientation and training of new clinical personnel.
• Serve as an expert clinical resource to clinical staff and patients in the area of specialty.
• Provide a safe environment for patients and others.
• Demonstrate a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Day shift schedule, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with no weekends or holidays.
