About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the Surgical ICU at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center plays a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients with severe illnesses. This position involves working in a multidisciplinary team to manage complex cases in a state-of-the-art facility, ensuring patient-centered care from admission through discharge. The role requires both independent decision-making and collaboration with various healthcare professionals, emphasizing the importance of safety and adherence to established care standards.

Requirements

  • Current State of California Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license.
  • National Certification required.
  • Current furnishing license required.
  • DEA license required.
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • 2 years of acute care experience.
  • ICU experience required.
  • 2 years of experience managing SICU patients preferred.
  • 2 years of experience as an NP or PA in a SICU is strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a high-acuity surgical or trauma environment.
  • Familiarity with advanced bedside monitoring and computerized documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the care plan and supervise clinical practice in the Surgical ICU.
  • Engage in research involvement and provide consultative services.
  • Act as a liaison between departments and educate staff and patients.
  • Manage patient care across the healthcare continuum, including preventative and acute care.
  • Collaborate with residents, fellows, and a multidisciplinary team to provide expert patient care.
  • Ensure care is consistent with hospital policies, standards of care, and professional organization standards.
  • Identify safety concerns and implement measures to ensure a safe environment for patients.
  • Provide individualized care to patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
