About The Position

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their growing team. There are currently 7 surgeons and 3 NP/PAs in the division. The NP/PA will be an integral member of the head and neck surgery, TMJ, and sleep medicine practices working independently and collaboratively with surgeons, surgical residents, other NP/PAs, and allied health staff. Responsibilities include outpatient perioperative care, postoperative care, and long term follow up. The practice includes a wide scope of surgical patients, including head and neck pathology, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, facial trauma, and sleep surgery. Provisions of care includes, but is not limited to comprehensive physical assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic test, coordination of patient care of oncology patients, and minor office procedures. Procedural practice may include but is not limited to botox, joint injections, & tissue biopsy. The responsibilities of this role will expand to include operating room duties as practice growth and demand warrant. Graduated training in all of these facets will be provided. The NP/PA will work very closely with our colleagues in Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Sleep Medicine. The NP/PA will participate actively in the Division's educational conferences to stay abreast of this rapidly changing specialty. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery consultants are very supportive and have been successful in care models that incorporate Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants into practice. Our practice is unique in that we have the benefits of a teaching institution with a multitude of practice supporting education as well as a variety of research opportunities.

Requirements

  • Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Minnesota RN and APRN license and certification, or eligible to be certified
  • Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA
  • Registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice
  • Registration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)
  • BLS certification
