About The Position

UAB Medicine is seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dynamic Urology team. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience as an advanced practice provider and a strong interest in inpatient and procedural care. The APP will play a vital role in providing high-quality, collaborative care in both inpatient, outpatient and surgical settings. This position will rotate between UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham and UAB St. Vincent's East, supporting urology consults, inpatient rounding, and bedside assistance in the operating room.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing with an Adult Acute Care NP certification, or graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider (required).
  • Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing or licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners with certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants required.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in surgical or urology settings preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and manage inpatient urology consults in coordination with the urology team.
  • Conduct daily inpatient rounds, assess treatment plans, and document care appropriately.
  • Assist in bedside procedures and provide support in the operating room as needed.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians, residents, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
