About The Position

The Department of Orthopedic Surgery is ranked amongst the top Orthopedic Departments nationwide. This unique position allows the NP or PA to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary care team including orthopedic surgeons, residents/fellows, and allied health staff to facilitate postoperative care for orthopedic inpatient and outpatient surgical cases at Rochester Methodist Hospital. The patient population primarily consists of upper and lower extremity adult reconstruction patients but also includes foot and ankle and sports medicine patients. The candidate will be an integral part of the hospital practice, being the primary contact to facilitate communication between the multidisciplinary care teams to provide evidence based best practice care, assist in patient education, and coordinate discharge planning. This role will work with a team focus but allow for a high level of autonomy. Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM This is subject to change with potential expansion in the future.

Requirements

  • Master's prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current Minnesota RN license and certification as an FNP, ACNP or ANP.
  • Or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.
  • Completion of BLS course required and ACLS preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team-based atmosphere providing hospital care for orthopedic surgery patients independently while closely working with surgeons and surgical colleagues to efficiently facilitate post-surgical patients care and dismissal from the hospital.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential for effective interactions with patients, family members, and colleagues in multiple disciplines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
