The following APPs may be considered for this role: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Work schedule: Full-time, benefited Shift: Monday through Friday, 4-10hr shifts No weekends, holidays, or call CME allowance: Full-time benefited APPs receive an annual $2,000.00 CME allowance. This can be used for recertification, applicable fees, CME courses, etc. that occur after a new employee's start date. The APP hired in this role with provide urgent, acute medical care and treatment within established scope of nursing practice to hospital inpatients on the Orthopedic Trauma Service and patients on other primary services with orthopedic injuries under the direction of a collaborating physician. The APP will coordinate the plan of care, discharge planning and execution, arrange specialty referrals, plan and coordinate and collaborate health care education for patient and family and other health care providers. The APP will perform comprehensive physical exams and assessments on inpatients with Orthopedic Trauma injuries. The APP will routinely interpret, analyze and evaluate patients' medical records, laboratory results, radiographic data and develop or adjust the plan of care accordingly. The APP collaborates closely with orthopaedic trauma surgeons, residents, nursing staff, and other interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care that supports optimal patient outcomes and timely transitions of care. Position Summary: To provide medical care and treatment within established scope of practice to medical services patients as assigned by and under the direction of the collaborating physician (Section 610-X-5 of the Alabama Board of Nursing Administrative Code). The collaborating physician shall be available for direct communication for consultation and referral or arrange for the same medical coverage by a physician who is pre-approved by the State Board of Medical Examiners in the same manner as the collaborating physician of record. To coordinate plan of care, discharge and specialty referrals as appropriate to meet the age specific needs of the patient. To plan and coordinate health care education for patient, family and other health care providers as needed. To perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments. To interpret, analyze and evaluate patient's medical record and social data. To perform and/or assist the physician with procedures per collaborative agreement. To coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities.
