About The Position

Marshfield Medical Center – Weston is seeking an ICU Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in Wausau/Weston, Wisconsin. The NP/PA should be a skilled member of the allied health care team, who is expected to practice at the highest level of their licensure. This requires providers to stay up to date with the latest evidence based medicine. The NP/PA would work collaboratively with the Hospitalist to facilitate acute care of the adult patient. This individual works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, case managers and other health care disciplines utilizing a team approach. The nurse practitioner participates in all aspects of care of the hospitalized patient including admissions, discharge, daily rounds and patient education. In this role, you will have the support of a physician while caring for patients in the ICU. Procedures included in this role will include ABG, arterial line, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and central venous catheter placement. Requirements

  • For Nurse Practitioner's - Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
  • Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice.
  • For Physician Assistant's - Master’s or Baccalaureate degree.
  • Successful completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors.
  • Successful completion of the national certifying examination and current certification given by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
  • Additional department-specific certifications, licenses, or memberships may be required (varies by department/location).
  • Employee may not at any time have been or be excluded from participation in any federally funded program, including Medicare and Medicaid. This is a condition of employment.
  • Employee must immediately notify his/her manager or the Health System’s Compliance Officer if he/she is threatened with exclusion or becomes excluded from any federally funded program.
