About the position

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida is seeking a dedicated and experienced Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner with interest in Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) to join our multidisciplinary team/EDS Clinic in the Division of General Internal Medicine. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for EDS patients through comprehensive and patient-centered care. The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner role will be responsible for diagnosing, managing, and treating patients with EDS and related connective tissue disorders. The ideal candidate will have experience in treating hypermobility, chronic pain, autonomic dysfunction, and other comorbidities commonly associated with EDS. However, we are willing to train the right candidate. This role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including geneticists, physical therapists, pain management specialists, and other healthcare providers, to offer holistic multidisciplinary care.

Responsibilities

  • Obtaining patient history
  • Performing physical examinations
  • Ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Formulating a diagnostic impression
  • Developing and implementing a treatment plan
  • Monitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
  • Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
  • Making appropriate referrals
  • Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to patient's age-specific needs
  • Assist with ongoing departmental process improvement and policy development
  • Other departmental or institutional committee assignments as needed

Requirements

  • New Grads will not be considered at this time
  • Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current FL RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP, ACNP
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the FL State Board of Medical Practice
  • Active BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date
  • DEA registration required
