About The Position

Nurse Practitioner is a position in the field of nursing that requires a master's degree in nursing and certification as a nurse practitioner. Responsibilities may include conducting patient assessments, diagnosing illnesses, prescribing medications, and providing patient education.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in advanced practice nursing from an accredited program
  • 0-3 + years of experience preferred
  • Current, valid State of Texas RN & APRN licenses
  • Current, unrestricted DEA preferred
  • Maintain required annual continuing medical education
  • Advanced interpersonal and counseling skills
  • Advanced verbal / written / listening communication skills
  • Strong deductive / inductive reasoning and observation skills
  • People- and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks; adaptability; flexibility
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Bachelor's degree or additional role-relevant experience
  • 2+ years of relevant experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients; take medical histories; assess patient health; perform physical examinations; administer injections/immunizations; perform suturing, splinting, casting; manage wounds and infections
  • Instruct/counsel patients; explain treatments and medications; counsel/promote emotional and physical health and wellness
  • Obtain/study medical histories, documents patient and clinic records
  • Administer/order diagnostic tests; interpret results; make diagnoses; prescribe medications and other treatments
  • Identify short-/long-range patient care issues; recommend courses of action; implement physician directives
  • Provide / ensure continuity of care; develop/implements patient care management plans
  • Comply/ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements, and infection control protocols and policies
  • Develop health care team staff; provide training and educational / growth opportunities
  • Maintain professional/technical knowledge; review professional journals; establish personal network; participate in educational workshops and professional associations
  • Collaborate with clinic staff to recommend / improve patient care practices, and clinic guidelines and workflow
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations
