Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for either a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work in our Gynecology Oncology department. This position will be 100% ambulatory clinic. Schedule: Monday - Friday; day time hours Office call one weekend per month Essential Functions: Examine, diagnose, and treat various conditions and diseases that affect women’s health, such as infections, hormonal disorders, cancers, etc. Perform tests and procedures, such as pap smears, pelvic exams, IUD insertions, biopsies, etc. Prescribe medications and treatments according to best practices and evidence-based guidelines. Educate and advise women on family planning, contraception, fertility, menopause, and other topics related to women’s health. Refer patients to other specialists or services when needed. Maintain accurate and confidential medical records and documentation. Keep up to date with the latest developments and research in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. Participate in process improvement projects. Demonstrates clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities which may include diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems. Responsible for health outcome of an assigned patient population. Confers with collaborating physician and other health professionals in area of clinical expertise. Develops appropriate educational systems for patients, families and staff in areas of expertise. Mentors graduate students in aspects of advanced practice and patient care. Actively participates in quality improvement and/or research pertinent to area of expertise.
