About The Position

Colon and Rectal Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work as part of a multidisciplinary team managing hospitalized patients who have undergone a variety of colon and rectal surgical procedures. This is a dynamic surgical practice renowned for excellence, innovation and performing cutting-edge procedures. NP/PAs are valued members within colon/rectal surgery and teamwork is essential to meeting the needs of the patients for whom we provide care. The Colon Rectal Surgery team has 12 surgeons and 8 NP/PAs currently in the hospital practice. The NP or PA will provide comprehensive assessments of patients including ordering, conducting, and interpreting diagnostic tests, diagnosing, prescribing pharmacologic agents, treatments, and non-pharmacologic therapies. Additionally, hospitalists typically take care of 8-12 patients during the day and 30-50 during the night shift and weekends. Our team-based approach includes partnerships with surgeons, nurses, residents, and fellows, and we are very willing to train new graduates. A high level of autonomy is expected.

Requirements

  • Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification, or eligible to be certified, as an FNP, ANP, or ACNP
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by the NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice
  • The NP/PA must be eligible for DEA registration
