University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner or Certified Physician Assistant to join University of Minnesota’s Colon and Rectal Surgery team. Our Colorectal team currently has 7 surgeons and 5 advanced practice providers (APPs) that provide a variety of inpatient and outpatient services throughout the Fairview system. This position is both inpatient and outpatient with an independent clinic schedule. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of physicians and clinical staff providing coordinated multi-professional care to our patients. Practice locations currently include Clinics and Surgery Center (CSC) and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) – Minneapolis, Outpatient Colorectal Surgery clinic – Edina, Edina Specialty Surgery Center (ESSC), Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – East bank, Fairview Southdale hospital, with occasional presence at Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West bank/Riverside Hospital and Masonic Children's Hospital; and likely expansion to additional clinics and hospitals in Maple Grove and St. Paul, MN. Our NP/PAs function at the top of their license within our team model. The NP/PA will: Provide outpatient surgical care for adults with colorectal diseases including pre-operative evaluation, post-operative treatment and ongoing care for both acute and chronic conditions. Inpatient care including hospital rounding and postoperative cares; incision, wound, and stoma education, post-operative care coordination, inpatient consults, and bedside - first assist in the operating room (with the appropriate training). Although currently there is no overnight or weekend call (home or in-person) for APPs, this may be a possibility in the future. Will independently perform office procedures (after training), such as anoscopy, hemorrhoid banding, incision and drainage of perianal and pilonidal abscess, excision of thrombosed hemorrhoids, and fulguration of condyloma. Find out more about our benefits here. We are looking for a PA or NP who is: A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Adult Nurse Practitioner training program. Eligible or certified through NCCPA, ANCC or AANP. Licensed or eligible to obtain a license through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Nursing (NPs). Able to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
