About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center Boise and Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) are seeking a Cardiac Advanced Practice Provider who is genuinely interested in cardiothoracic surgery services to join our team located in Boise, Idaho. The selected candidate will be committed to a multi-disciplinary team approach to inpatient care in partnership with our Cardiothoracic Surgeons. The surgical Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) will first assist in all cardiac and thoracic operations and manage the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) as well as the step-down unit. The Cardiothoracic Surgery program is a three-surgeon practice supported by eight APPs, four CVOR specialized anesthesiologists, and four perfusionists. This collaborative team works together with an experienced staff on a dedicated floor that houses a 10-bed dedicated CVICU, three dedicated CVORs, and a 6-bed step-down unit. Our team of providers is projected to perform over 350 open heart surgeries and over 175 thoracic surgeries, including 80 robotic lobectomies, as well as over 160 Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacements (TAVRs) and 75 MitraClips. Our practice specializes in adult cardiac surgery, Aortic surgery, Minimally Invasive Valve Surgery, Robotic Thoracic surgery, and Hybrid Maze procedures for the treatment of Atrial Fibrillation. Additionally, our practice implants and manages Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and the Impella 5.5. The program participates in the STS Registry and aggressively benchmarks performance as part of an ever-vigilant quality and outcomes improvement program. Among our accomplishments are a high early extubation rate, low transfusion and complication rates, and numerous regional and national cardiac surgery awards. The program strives to improve the cardiothoracic profession and is actively participating in cutting-edge clinical research, the development of new programs, and educational opportunities. The schedule for this position includes a surgical orientation that may consist of five 8-hour shifts for approximately three months, transitioning into four 10-hour shifts per week, generally from 6 am to 4 pm.
