About The Position

Hartford HealthCare's Behavioral Health Network (HHC BHN) has a new opportunity available for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide admission physical exams, psychiatric evaluations, and medication management at The Ridge, a newly created residential addiction treatment facility located in Windham, CT. This facility is well-resourced with 36 beds, including 17 detox beds, and has the full support of the Rushford network and the entire integrated system of Hartford HealthCare. Practitioners will be responsible for providing physical exams for newly admitted patients and managing their medical care during their stay. Requirements

  • Advanced practice nursing or PA-C certification.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and drug and alcohol addiction.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practices related to patient care.
  • Active CT DEA/CT Controlled Substance license.
  • CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients through detailed physical exams and comprehensive assessments.
  • Order and perform appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with clinical and nursing staff.
  • Write orders for medications, treatments, and other patient care matters.
  • Document patient status and treatment recommendations in progress notes.
  • Provide education to individuals or groups as requested by the Medical Director.
  • Assume care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of patient medical records and confidentiality.
  • Advise patients on medication use, including dosage and side effects.
  • Review and interpret results of diagnostic studies and tests.
  • Participate in peer review, chart reviews, and quality assurance activities.
  • Display and uphold Rushford core values of dignity, compassion, and integrity.
