Organization: GI Medicine Job Summary: The Nurse Practitioner / Physician’s Assistant (NP/PA) will work within the Functional Medicine- Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) outpatient clinic setting alongside our GI Medicine Clinic faculty and staff at VUMC. This NP/PA will be expected to see patients independently as well as working alongside other MD's in providing care for our VUMC patients. This NP/PA should be certified in functional medicine or integrative medicine, or eligible for certification with functional medicine patient experience. . Department Summary: The Functional Medicine-Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center provides comprehensive care and management for VUMC patients. Our specialists work together to offer long-term relief of medical symptoms, with a goal to optimize health and promote overall wellness.

Nice To Haves

  • This NP/PA should be certified in functional medicine or integrative medicine, or eligible for certification with functional medicine patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment of Health Status Performs and documents in the medical record a complete history and physical examination for outpatient patients.
  • Orders and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated.
  • Formulates differential diagnoses by priority.
  • Diagnoses complications and orders appropriate interventions
  • Implements and modifies plan of care
  • Documentation Demonstrates Professional Practice behaviors including preceptor/mentoring, education and instruction of students, nursing staff, nurses, graduate and novice nurse practitioners.
  • Seeks opportunities for active engagement in research and the analysis of evidenced based practice.
  • Actively participates in Grand Rounds, APN council meetings, faculty and unit meetings, M&M presentations.
  • Maintains CEUs, and membership in a professional organization
