Nurse Practitioner - NP - Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) – Part Time, Nights Only with Full Benefits The Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is seeking a part-time Nurse Practitioner to provide coverage in the CTICU and CT Stepdown Unit. The schedule consists of four 12.5-hour night shifts over a two-week period. Cardiothoracic Surgery nursing at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital means tackling complex cases by utilizing rare technology to deliver quality centered patient care with a finely tuned collaborative team. Across screening, diagnosis, treatment and care, our nurses drive the sharing of knowledge and best practices that makes life-changing differences for patients. The Nurse Practitioner for Cardiothoracic Surgery is responsible for planning, evaluating, managing, and delivering patient centered care. You will be a vital member to the Cardiothoracic Surgery team. Your direction and coordination will deeply impact the delivery of quality patient care to our patients. In addition to providing exemplary health care in the CT-ICU and CT-SD, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

Requirements

  • Previous RN or NP experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • New York State Registered Nurse License and Adult, Acute Care or Family Nurse Practitioner License
  • Board Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and APPs to identify, develop, and implement quality assurance initiatives with the aim to improve patient outcomes, maximize patient satisfaction, and streamline department processes.
  • Contributes to the development of APP training curriculum, coordinates training sessions, maintains training documentation.
  • Participates in department clinical research. Screens for potential subjects, consent, randomize, and complete follow-up visits in electronic case report forms.
  • Provides continuity of care in outpatient clinics pre- and post-operatively.
  • Develops and maintains policies, standards, and processes pertaining to patient care.
