Nurse Practitioner – Neuro Oncology (Outpatient) Location: University Medical Center - New Orleans Position Type: Full‑Time Position Summary The Nurse Practitioner – Neuro Oncology (Outpatient) provides comprehensive, patient‑centered medical care to individuals with complex neurologic cancers. Working collaboratively with Neuro‑Oncology physicians and the multidisciplinary care team, this role is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, symptom management, and ongoing evaluation of patient outcomes. This position supports a new and rapidly growing Neuro‑Oncology program that is experiencing increasing patient complexity, expanding referral volume, and high‑acuity symptom management needs. The Nurse Practitioner will play a critical role alongside a newly recruited Neuro‑Oncology physician under an established contractual agreement. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including physical examinations and preventive health assessments, in accordance with physician guidelines and protocols Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with neurologic malignancies Manage complex symptoms associated with cancer and cancer treatments, including high‑acuity outpatient needs Monitor patient responses to medical and nursing interventions and adjust care plans accordingly Collaborate closely with Neuro‑Oncology physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams Provide patient and family education, counseling, and support throughout the treatment continuum Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in the electronic health record Support quality, safety, and patient‑experience initiatives within the growing Neuro‑Oncology program Qualifications Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program Active Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Louisiana (or eligibility for licensure) National certification as a Nurse Practitioner Oncology, neurology, or acute care experience strongly preferred Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex, high‑acuity patients Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Why Join Our Neuro‑Oncology Program? Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Active Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Louisiana (or eligibility for licensure)
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex, high‑acuity patients
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Master's Degree from an approved NP Program required.
