The Mental Health Provider will work independently within the Allina Health United Family Physicians outpatient clinic in St. Paul. This is not a Faculty role, but there will be some opportunity to work with and teach Family Medicine Physician Residents. Outpatient only. No Inpatient or call associated with this position.

Requirements

  • Master's degree - Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - ANCC - American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) required Certification within specialty upon hire
  • ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 Days
  • Drug Enforcement Administration upon hire required

Nice To Haves

  • New grad NP's may be considered, but 2+ years Mental Health experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an outpatient setting is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical care for patients
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
  • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
  • Acts as resource to members of the team.
  • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients.
  • Works with primary care team for program development.
  • Participates in research activities when opportunity available.
  • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
