About The Position

The position involves managing the physical and psychological problems of patients, identifying normal and abnormal findings, and implementing individualized treatment plans. The role requires evaluating patients' physical and emotional responses to medications and treatments, prescribing immunizations, and seeking appropriate consultations. Effective communication with physicians and other healthcare providers is essential to achieve desired outcomes and ensure a continuous flow of patient care. The position also involves maintaining a Problem/Medication list, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and timely, and assessing patients to facilitate consultations when necessary. The role includes directing patients to the appropriate level of care and communicating all pertinent information, as well as assisting in identifying resources for further treatment or rehabilitation. Leadership skills are demonstrated through problem-solving, critical thinking, and mentoring new hires or students. The position requires adherence to safety and infection control processes, participation in compliance with regulatory agencies, and involvement in safety drills and on-call responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of cardiology experience.
  • Experience with interpreting cardiac imaging and diagnostic testing.
  • Understanding and interpreting ECGs.
  • Experience managing acute and chronic cardiac issues, including but not limited to acute coronary syndromes, arrhythmias, heart failure, pacemaker/defibrillators.
  • Willingness to train and interest in the Cardiology setting.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the physical and psychological problems of the patient.
  • Identifies normal and abnormal findings.
  • Implements an individualized plan of treatment, reassesses and revises plan as needed.
  • Evaluates the physical and emotional responses to medications and treatments.
  • Prescribes immunizations per recommended schedules.
  • Seeks appropriate consultation.
  • Communicates effectively with the physician and other healthcare providers to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Initiates and maintains the Problem/Medication list at each encounter.
  • Complies with completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of documentation at each encounter.
  • Assesses the patient and facilitates consultation when indicated.
  • Directs patients to appropriate level of care and communicates all pertinent information.
  • Assists in identifying and utilizing resources and/or social agencies for further treatment or rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrates leadership by utilizing the concepts inherent to the practice of the professional nurse.
  • Demonstrates an ability to solve problems independently utilizing critical thinking skills.
  • Seeks assistance from immediate supervisor when appropriate.
  • Delegates patient care appropriately.

  • Utilizes two forms of patient identification before implementing any form of patient care.
  • Practices all National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Assists in the department's compliance with all regulatory agencies.
  • Participates in continuous survey readiness for inspections and surveys.
  • Participates in the non-punitive medication reporting system.
  • Ensures accountability for narcotics per regulatory/organizational policies.
  • Participates in office fire, safety, utility, hazard, and disaster drills as required.
  • Participates in on-call, weekend coverage, and first assist responsibilities as required.
