About The Position

Make it Happen at Hopkins! The Nurse Practitioner will work with attending physicians, residents, nursing, radiologic technologists and others to provide patient care in the Department of Interventional Radiology, at the Suburban Hospital. The Nurse Practitioner works independently and in collaboration with Interventional Radiology attending physician Coordinates patient care Obtains medical histories and performs physical examinations Orders and interprets laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic studies Interprets information from invasive and non-invasive monitors Initiates or modifies routine, complex, and emergent medication regimens and therapies Performs emergent, urgent, and routine procedures: Inserts and removes peripheral and central venous catheters Inserts and removes mediports Performs drainages, including insertion of catheters Arterial and venous access Fine needle aspirates and core biopsies under imaging guidance Lumbar punctures, including myelograms and intrathecal chemotherapy administration Supervises/administers IV moderate sedation Controls external hemorrhage Performs cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR/ACLS) Assumes responsibility and accountability for organizing time and workload to meet patient, staff, and departmental needs. Serves as an educational and clinical resource to multi-disciplinary staff as well as to patients and their families. Provides leadership, guidance, and teaching to students, and residents rotating in Interventional Radiology.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • MSN Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • CPR and ACLS
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland
  • RN License Maryland State Board of Nursing
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Basic life support certified
  • Advanced cardiac life support certification
  • Authorization to Work in the United States: Applicants who require sponsorship now or in the future will not be considered for this position.
