About The Position

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will join the inpatient behavioral health team at UH Ahuja Medical Center, focusing on patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. This role involves collaborating with healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive care to patients and their families, while also contributing to the educational development of staff and promoting professionalism within the team.

Requirements

• Demonstrated competence as a practitioner.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with a variety of technical patient care devices specific to the clinical area.
• Proficiency in computers and selected office equipment.
• Nursing Doctorate or Master of Science in Nursing with emphasis on clinical practice.
• Current Registered Nurse license to practice in Ohio.
• Current APRN license to practice in Ohio.
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
• Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist credentials.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and assign diagnoses based on recorded assessment data and current research.
• Establish and implement plans of care in accordance with care paths, protocols, and standards of care.
• Collaborate with other healthcare providers in an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
• Order and perform routine diagnostic procedures.
• Develop and implement treatment plans and monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
• Contribute to the educational development of staff, patients, and families.
• Demonstrate progressive leadership and effective management.
• Provide education through role modeling and in-services to meet identified learning needs.
• Advance own professional development through self-directed learning and continuing education.
• Initiate and maintain positive relationships with patients and co-workers.
