About The Position

Position Summary: The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for providing the pre-anesthesia assessment and co-management of patients with unstable and complicated illnesses, in collaboration with the Anesthesiologist. Will obtain a health history and a physical assessment, identify problems, formulate plans that include education and counseling and the evaluation of developmental stages and the management of common acute and chronic stable conditions. Integrates the nursing process, collaborates with other health care professionals, maintains continuity of care, coordinates community services and assists with projects.

Requirements

  • Valid CA Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number and DEA Registration number
  • Previous experience working as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must possess current BLS certification or attain prior to hire
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Must be able to participate in on call rotation and work occasional weekends & evenings
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in acute care with VAD/MCS
  • Minimum of two (2) years critical care experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Current California RN license
  • Current California Nurse Practitioner Licensure
  • Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges prior to hire
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • ACLS within 30 days of employment
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty nursing certification relating to the patient population
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
