About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for providing comprehensive direct patient care and engaging in scholarly practice. This includes obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examinations, ordering and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illnesses, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling. Additionally, the Advanced Practice Provider assumes accountability for indirect care responsibilities that support patient care, which includes staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement.

Requirements

• Completion of Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
• Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP.
• Current registration through the Alabama Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners.
• Approval of the credentialing board.
• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Training Program recognized by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners.
• Successful completion of PA National Certification Exam.
• Current Alabama State License.
• Approval through Helen Keller Hospital's Medical Staff credentialing process.
• Minimum of three years full-time ER or Critical Care RN and/or CRNP experience preferred.
