The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for providing comprehensive direct patient care and engaging in scholarly practice. This includes obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examinations, ordering and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illnesses, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling. Additionally, the Advanced Practice Provider assumes accountability for indirect care responsibilities that support patient care, which includes staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement.
