About The Position

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant for an Inpatient Orthopaedic Surgery position at Main Campus. The role involves managing all aspects of inpatient care for post-surgical orthopaedic patients, including same-day discharges. The position requires collaboration with a team of experienced Orthopaedic Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to deliver quality and compassionate care. The schedule is Monday to Friday, with no holidays, weekends, nights, or call required. New graduates with clinical rotations in orthopaedics are welcome to apply.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or as a Physician Assistant in Ohio.
  • National certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification may be required.
  • Two years of clinical nursing or relevant clinical experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in orthopaedics is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of inpatient care for post-surgical orthopaedic patients.
  • Conduct thorough medical histories and perform complete physical examinations.
  • Initiate appropriate lab, radiology tests, or other special tests required for evaluation of illness.
  • Perform routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care.
  • Assist in the management of complex illnesses and injuries, including assisting surgeons in operations.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority.
  • Educate patients regarding their disease, treatments, and preventive health maintenance topics.
  • Participate in medical team rounds and collaborate with healthcare team members.
  • Ensure continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patients and other healthcare team members.
  • Facilitate appropriate length of stay, discharge planning, and compliance with regulatory standards.
