The Nurse Practitioner will provide high-quality medical care to patients in a correctional healthcare setting, including assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient education. This role will collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care delivery and will prescribe medications, perform procedures, and manage chronic conditions. The Nurse Practitioner will also maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.

Requirements

  • A valid and active and unrestricted license to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of California.
  • Completion of an MSN (or higher) in a primary care clinical discipline (e.g., FNP, AGNP, ANP, ENP) and Board Certification in the discipline.
  • Hold an active and valid DEA Registration or be willing to obtain Registration.
  • Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved) prior to start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in correctional healthcare or other settings with underserved cohorts is very helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based medical care to inmates in accordance with established policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
  • Perform assessments, diagnose and treat patients; prescribe medication and order appropriate tests.
  • Demonstrate leadership in ensuring excellence in patient care, promoting positive health outcomes and improving patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient medical information/history, upholding HIPAA regulations and medical ethics.
  • Participate in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans and ensure they are followed in a timely manner.
  • Provide Call-by-Phone services as needed, including after-hours.
  • Provide leadership to nursing and healthcare staff, promoting teamwork and cooperation among medical and correctional teams.
  • Support staff development through guidance, mentorship, and ongoing education to promote a high standard of care.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance standards by consistently performing thorough and accurate clinical tasks.
  • Maintain professional standards at all times.
  • Respect and adhere to the facility's safety, infection control, and operational policies, ensuring a safe and effective healthcare environment.
  • Collaborate with medical and correctional staff to ensure smooth operations, resolve issues, and enhance patient care delivery.
