The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Adult Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner Fellowship is a one-year full time fellowship to prepare a qualified nurse practitioner to assume clinical, leadership and educator roles in adult palliative care specialty practice. Nurse fellows join an interprofessional class, the Harvard Interprofessional Palliative Care Fellowship, of nurse practitioners, physicians, social workers, and pharmacists who share the goal of a career in palliative care. Training includes classroom teaching and clinical supervision by experts in the field so fellows can attain proficiency in the care of patients with serious illness or at the end of life. Fellows will gain competency in management of pain and other symptoms, end of life symptom management, provision of psycho-social support for patients and families, and advanced communication skills.
