Requirements

• Minimum MSN from a PA State Board of Nursing Approved Master's Program
• National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners through AANP or ANCC
• Practicing-state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
• Prescriptive Authority from the practicing state within 60 days of hire
• Drug Enforcement Agency Licensure within 60 days of hire
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Responsibilities

• Provides appropriate patient care including recording medical history and physical assessment, developing therapeutic care plans, ordering diagnostic tests, interpreting results, and discharge planning.
• Communicates and coordinates patient care with patients, families, community health services, and interdisciplinary teams, involving attending physicians in clinical decision-making.
• Prepares written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances, administers medications and injections, sutures wounds, and provides wound care.
• Educates patients and family members on health, preventive medicine, prescribed medications, treatment instructions, and community resources.
• Triages patient telephone calls and provides monitoring and continuity of care.
• Participates in, develops, and implements performance and quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Serves as a clinical expert and resource, potentially performing daily rounding of patients and managing outpatient concerns.
