About The Position

The APN will work with the Gynecological Oncologist, cancer care team and leadership to provide education and care to patients with GYN disease, benign and malignant. The APN will function within their scope of practice as defined by the West Virginia Board of Nursing or the West Virginia Board of Medicine. They are responsible for continuously maintaining license and certifications required to practice in the state of West Virginia.

Requirements

  • Master's degree required.
  • WV License Registered Nurse, Active and unencumbered required.
  • Nurse Practitioner APRN WV license, Active and unencumbered required.
  • AHA BLS required.
  • Two years of position-related experience required.
  • Due to the specialty population preference will be given to those with advanced practice experience in the Oncology setting.
  • Knowledge of oncology, chemotherapy agents, and surgical options as well as general adult health

Nice To Haves

  • Oncology Nursing Certification or Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive initial and episodic health history and physical examinations to identify cancer risk, existing or potential health problems
  • Initiates appropriate diagnostic, therapeutic, medical, and nursing actions in conjunction with ECCC physicians.
  • Provides follow-up care including acute and routine examinations
  • Triage patient problem calls in office which require medical attention
  • Provides health education to patients and families (high-risk educations, anticipatory teaching, clinical teaching regarding biopsy results).
  • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between referring physicians and other health care setting
