About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner in the Community Care Service line at the Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for managing inpatient consults, reviewing urgent care consults, and authorizing care for eligible veterans under the Mission Act. Requirements

• Post-master's certificate or master's/doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Active, unrestricted APN license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in a U.S. state or territory.
• Full and current board certification in a clinical specialty from a recognized certifying body.

Responsibilities

• Manage inpatient consults and authorize care in community hospitals or rehabilitation facilities.
• Review urgent care consults and determine patient admissions.
• Create inpatient consults for authorized admissions.
• Authorize ED-urgent care consults for Mission Act eligible veterans.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams using evidence-based practices.
• Create consults for specialty care and primary care for eligible veterans.
