About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner-Chief Primary Care position at the Department of Veterans Affairs Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care within the Primary Care Service. The Chief ensures the development, implementation, and monitoring of clinical and administrative practices to enhance access, efficiency, and quality of care for Veterans. This role involves strategic planning, compliance with VHA standards, and driving innovation in patient care delivery.

Requirements

  • Must possess a post-master's certificate or master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Must have an active, current, full, and unrestricted APN license to practice as an NP in a state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Must maintain full and current board certification in an area of clinical specialty from a recognized certifying body.
  • Four years of APN experience, with one year of specialized experience equivalent to Nurse III.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise primary care providers and manage service operations.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and align clinical practices with VHA's mission and goals.
  • Drive innovation in patient care delivery and engage in strategic planning.
  • Ensure compliance with VHA standards and policies.
  • Assist Nurse Leaders, APNs, and interdisciplinary clinicians in their functions and activities.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations for establishing standards of care, policies, and objectives.
  • Lead and collaborate in policy-making activities related to customer service and administrative functions.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with medical center personnel and the community.
