About The Position

Position Summary: The incumbent is responsible for providing direct health care services for electrophysiology (EP) patients. This role provides services to streamline and expedite the flow of patients having electrophysiology procedures. The care provided consists of evaluation of normal and abnormal findings, initiation of treatments, and coordination of admissions and discharges. The EP NP performs these functions in accordance with the Standardized Procedures approved by the Mercy General Hospital Committees for Credentials, Interdisciplinary Practice, and Cardiology. A more specific description of the EP NP includes: Entering pre/post procedure orders Facilitating/triaging/consulting transfer patients being evaluated for potential procedure Collaborating with cardiac electrophysiologists on new consults and existing patient treatment plans Receiving report from the electrophysiologist on cases being followed to discharge Managing patients who have unexpected complications post procedure (e.g., hematomas, pressure problems, etc) Meeting with patients post procedure and providing education and counseling as needed Completing Incision/dressing management Performing device interrogations Performing EP consults Discharging patients from Cardiac Interventional Unit and Cardiac Support Unit (including medication reconciliation) and completing a brief progress note if any medications were changed or complications encountered Program coverage is 6 days a week (Monday through Saturday)

Requirements

  • Current California RN License
  • Current California Nurse Practitioner RN License
  • Current BLS & ACLS Certifications through American Heart Assocation (AHA)
  • Masters degree in nursing and certification as a nurse practitioner.
  • Current DEA number or pending DEA# application. DEA # must be obtained within 3 mos of hire
  • Provider number (NPI) is required

  • Experience as an acute care Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner.

Responsibilities
