About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner in Cardiac Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is responsible for providing comprehensive care to cardiac surgical patients under the supervision of cardiac surgeons. This role involves planning and coordinating patient care, managing patients with mechanical circulatory support (MCS) and heart transplants, and participating in interdisciplinary rounds to ensure effective treatment plans are implemented.

Requirements

  • Master of Nursing Degree required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required.
  • Current State of California Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License required.
  • National Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner required.
  • Current NP Furnishing License required.
  • DEA license required.
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing experience required.
  • Inpatient NP experience.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 years of experience managing vascular surgery patient population preferred.
  • AGACNP certification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and perform history and physical examinations.
  • Record and interpret pertinent data including labs and diagnostic studies.
  • Evaluate, treat, and diagnose patients under the supervision of a licensed physician.
  • Write daily progress notes on inpatients and collate inpatient records.
  • Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds.
  • Coordinate ongoing overall patient care with physician staff and nursing staff.
  • Assist or perform bedside procedures within the scope of service.
  • Maintain communication with patients and families regarding care.
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to deliver care appropriate to adult and geriatric patients.
  • Perform assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
  • Participate in Quality activities, including Unit Practice Committees.
