Job Summary: Location: Methodist Fremont Health Behavioral Medicine Address: 2560 North Heathy Way, Fremont NE Work Schedule: M-F 8a-5:30p Complete comprehensive evaluations of patients according to psychiatric guidelines; mental health status evaluations, formulations, diagnoses, and detailed treatment plans; make referrals for further diagnostic medical testing as needed; provide individual, group, family and pharmacologic therapeutic interventions as necessary; provide crisis intervention and referrals; provide consultations on psychiatric disease for emergency department patients and inpatients; maintain documentation, records, and reports in accordance with prevailing rules, regulations and standards. All activities of the Nurse Practitioner shall be in accordance with State and Federal standards and Medical Staff Bylaws pertaining to Allied Health Professionals.

Requirements

  • Master's degree, post-master's certificate, or doctoral degree with preparation as an Advanced Practice Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse required.
  • Successful completion of an approved advanced practice registered nurse program required.
  • Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
  • Nurse Practitioner (APRN.NP.NE or ARNP.IA) for work state required.
  • Prescriptive authority in Nebraska and DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certification (CSRC) required.
  • A minimum of two years experience in healthcare with an interest in behavioral health required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate actively with health professionals of various disciplines and function as a team member.
  • Skill in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of disease in the practice of psychiatry.
  • Ability to complete a clear and comprehensive diagnostic and psychiatric assessment and concise notes for patient records.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
  • Certification by a national certifying body as a psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP.BC through ANCC) preferred.
  • Experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Initiative - Complies with Methodist Fremont Health (MFH) safety policies and procedures and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, JCAHO, CLIA. ETC.) Performs job duties in a manner consistent with organization and departmental safety policies and procedures. Completes departmental safety requirements.
  • Outpatient Treatment and Therapeutic Services Provide comprehensive evaluations of patients according to psychiatric guidelines; mental health status evaluations, formulations, diagnosis, and detailed treatment plans. History of present illness and past history. Review patient history and social work evaluations and interview patients to obtain insight into their problems and determine the need for long-term treatment. Provide crisis intervention and referral for psychiatric hospitalization. Provide individual, group, family and pharmacologic therapeutic interventions as necessary. Make referrals for further diagnostic medical testing as needed.
  • Inpatient Treatment and Care Coordination Provide consultations on psychiatric diseases for emergency department patients. Provide consultations on psychiatric disease for inpatients. Work as a team member with psychiatrist, social workers, and other to coordinate evaluations, treatment planning and referrals. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings. Coordinate with other professionals and agencies as necessary to assure quality care.
  • Documentation Maintain documentation, records, and reports in accordance with prevailing rules, regulations and standards. Completes patient charge sheets or billing daily.
  • Communication and Education Provides education for Medical Staff, hospital and clinic personnel. Represents MFH with community agencies and other organizations in the market area. Communicates a legislative and policy-making activities.
  • Self-Development Completes annual education and competencies to maintain licensure and competency.
  • Performance Improvement Overall work performance is dedicated to meeting and exceeding the performance improvement standards for the department. Participates in department performance improvement program and projects.
