Practicing Clinician Role Scope At HHC Advanced Practitioners (APP) enjoy the full scope of advanced practice and receive recognition and respect for their contributions to high quality patient care. We are currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to partner with the practicing Physicians in our Urgent Care offices in Western Connecticut. Under established guidelines and in collaboration with the practice physician(s) the practicing APP will need to provide: Acute care illness and injury management skills Perform and interpret EKG Venipuncture and Peripheral line placement Administration of IM, IV medication Dressing Change and wound care management Incision and drainage of simple abscess Suturing and stapling of simple wounds or laceration Removal of sutures Apply splints and cast Perform Gynecological / pelvic exams Interpret preliminary X-Ray findings DOT Exams Perform contact physicals School and sports exam for kids Quality & Safety Coordination Serves as a clinical point-person for the quality and safety program for Urgent Care Clinics (UCC) in Southwestern Connecticut. Partnering closely with Physician Medical Director, Operational Director, Regional Manager as well as clinical peers in the specialty area – the Quality & Safety Coordinator will be responsible for Developing and monitoring reports on certain quality metrics across the 11 sites Managing any individual patient needs/near misses/risks/etc. that arise – in conjunction with physician lead, ordering clinician, and any support staff. Areas of focus will include, but are not limited to: X-Ray Imaging – ensuring x-rays are interpreted and communicated to patients by the end of every day Managing ER referrals WQ Vitals – ensuring all vitals are correctly taken for every patient and working with managers to correct where there are issues ECG - ensuring ECG’s are interpreted and communicated to patients by the end of every day Emergency Department Referrals – ensuring prior day’s patients with emergency referrals were taken care of by following up with patients if need be.
