About The Position

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to care for patients in the Medical ICU (MICU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU). Position Details: Join the expanding Medical Critical Care team at Backus Hospital! The Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) will be an integral member of the care delivery team, including Hospitalists, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) Physicians, Nursing, and Respiratory Therapy that delivers care for complex medical patients in the critical care and stepdown units at Backus Hospital, including rounding, responding to codes an all inpatients and performing procedures. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Master's program
  • Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut
  • Certification or eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Board Certification APRN
  • Preferably one year of experience of Inpatient or ICU medicine, however new graduates may be considered with pertinent previous clinical (non-provider level) experience
  • Strong clinical acumen and communication skills with other providers, ancillary staff, patients and families. The ability to adapt quickly, embrace a culture of change and evolution to help develop best practices in this evolving position.
  • Intellectual maturity and team focus working with a number of different team members.
