Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program leading to a Masters Degree and/or meets the Advanced Nursing Practice requirements set forth by the Illinois State Board of Nursing.
• Must process appropriate certification and degree from a United States Institution of Higher Education.
• Must be licensed to practice in the State of Illinois prior to beginning employment.
• Computer literacy required.

Responsibilities

• Practice under the supervision of the Hospitalist.
• Perform physical examinations, laboratory tests and health screening measures.
• Teach patients all aspects of health care.
• Counsel patients and families in family issues as appropriate.
• Assess and manage illness under guidelines approved by medical staff.
• Refer patients to other health care providers or community agencies when and as appropriate.
• Contribute to devising, executing, and periodically reviewing written policies/clinical protocols governing the services provided by the hospital.
