The Certified Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) functions as a physician extender and participates in the overall coordination and delivery of care to patients in the practice. The CRNP examines diagnoses and treats patients in the physician practice. The CRNP may also assist in procedures in the office setting, conduct testing and prescribe medications in accordance with the Pennsylvania CRNP license scope and the delineation of privileges by the supervising physicians. In collaboration with the practice physician, the CRNP communicates, as appropriate, with the patients, physicians and other members of the health care team about changes in a patient's clinical condition and testing results. The CRNP serves as a liaison, educator, and patient advocate, and functions within individual patient needs, physician orders, Holy Redeemer Health System policy and procedures, and the Pennsylvania CRNP license.
