About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) Telemedicine is a licensed, certified healthcare provider who provides direct patient care and has prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent provider, recognized by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) offers medical care based on the supervising physician's scope of practice. An APP in telemedicine provides outpatient care for various conditions through virtual means.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience preferred.
  • Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Texas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • National Nurse Practitioner certification in area of specialty for intended patient population.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Allergy or Primary Care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
  • Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
  • Prescribe or recommend medical drug therapies or other treatments.
  • Perform procedures following approved policies, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost.
  • Recommend interventions to change behavior linked to health risks.
  • Formulate and implement comprehensive patient treatment plans based on assessments.
  • Use evidence-based medicine, standards of care, and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with physicians and team members when appropriate.
  • Evaluate patient's response to health care and effectiveness of care.
  • Counsel patients and families about medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
  • Counsel patients about drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies.
  • Maintain appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Provide consultation services for conditions related to the Provider's specialty and training.
  • Perform invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and provider's level of proficiency as delegated by supervising Physician.
  • May be required to perform patient care duties beyond regular schedule based on coverage needs of the department.
