About The Position

The Addiction Medicine Advanced Practitioner Training Program will provide integrated mental health and SUD/OUD services, including Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) for PAs and advanced practice nurses (APNs), in a primary care underserved community-based setting. The overall goal of the APP Trainee Program is to foster robust clinical training and augment expertise among clinicians who will see patients at access points of care and provide mental health and addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nurse Practitioner (Required)
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania

Responsibilities

  • Participate in MOUD in community-based settings along with additional clinical training beyond the didactic component.
  • Provide professional peer-to-peer support to assist trained APNs and PAs in initiating their provision of MOUD.
  • Connect and manage patients receiving MOUD in receiving behavioral health counseling and in connecting to social supports to retain patients in care.
  • Collaborate with caregivers inside and outside of the immediate care team.
  • Demonstrate clear and effective communication with patients and the immediate care team.
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessment of patient's medical, physical, and psychosocial status.
  • Conduct history and physical examinations.
  • Develop assessment and treatment plans.
  • Participate in clinical patient care.
  • Record progress notes.
  • Order tests, examinations, medications, and therapies.
  • Arrange for discharge and aftercare.
  • Write and dictate admission notes, progress notes, procedure notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Provide patient education and counseling covering health status, test results, disease processes, and discharge planning.
  • Perform procedures.
