To learn more about UC Irvine, visit www.uci.edu. The Nurse Practitioner will perform all duties and tasks under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist. The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care's division of Center for Perioperative Care advocates for each patient to be medically optimized prior to surgery, to experience a smooth hospital course, and to return back to normal life activities. Patients receive individualized service that is expertly coordinated across multiple departments and phases of care. Your Role on the Team Work with the physicians/surgeons/APP colleagues and other clinical and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient management based on accepted practice, including but not limited to, performing histories and physicals, pre-operative planning/coordinating with anesthesia/outside providers and PCPs as applicable, responding to change in patient status, providing needed prescriptions/evaluations/referral/treatments as permitted under their standardized procedure. Provide home health services and DME, DMV evaluations, referrals, consultations, PT, and order radiographic or diagnostic requests, specialized treatment privileges (e.g. chemotherapy with the approved privilege). May also provide patient education, arrange follow-up appointments, and engage in any approved privileges the APP has completed the necessary proctoring or FPPE through prior to competency for independent practice and procedural activity.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates an understanding of and adheres to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies and procedures related to Protected Health Information (PHI) or other sensitive and personal information.
  • California RN and Nurse Practitioner License ACNP/AGACNP
  • Current Active, Unrestricted Furnishing License and DEA Registration
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • BLS Certification
  • Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license
  • Valid California Registered Nurse license
  • Valid California Nurse Practitioner license
  • NP National Board Certification
  • Valid Basic Life Support certification by the American Heart Association
  • At least 6 months of NP experience

  • Prior managing patients in an ambulatory care center experience.
  • Prior ICU experience.
  • Prior and relevant Perioperative / Peri-Anesthesia experience.
