About The Position

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for a PRN position in Hematology/Oncology to float throughout the West Side Regional Hospitals (Avon, Fairview, and Lutheran). The role involves providing primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in various healthcare settings, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. The ideal candidate will have APP Oncology experience, but experienced APPs in other areas will be considered. New graduates will not be considered for this position.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in applicable state.
  • National certification as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification may be required.
  • Two years clinical nursing experience preferred for APRN.
  • Two years relative clinical experience preferred for PA.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Oncology as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP).
  • Demonstrated competency in advanced assessment and diagnosis.
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts thorough medical histories and performs complete physical examinations.
  • Initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness.
  • Scrutinizes lab data on new and former clinic patients and hospital admissions.
  • Performs and interprets common laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures.
  • Performs routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care.
  • Assists in the management of complex illness and injury, including assisting surgeons.
  • May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority.
  • Provides information and answers routine questions of patients regarding their disease.
  • Educates patients regarding their disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects.
  • Participates in medical team rounds and collaborates with healthcare team members.
  • Refers patients to specialists as appropriate for consultation or specialized health resources.
  • Ensures continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the care team.
  • Performs research follow-up studies and assists in data analysis.
  • Participates in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans.
  • Facilitates appropriate length of stay, discharge planning and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • May serve as clinical preceptor for PA/APRN students and other health professionals.
