About The Position

This position is for a nursing role within the Federal service, specifically targeting candidates who meet the educational and licensure requirements as outlined. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of nursing principles and practices, as well as the ability to provide direct patient care. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position. The hiring manager may consider applicants who are currently enrolled in a nursing program and expected to complete their education within nine months of applying. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service through recognized programs.

Requirements

  • Graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program.
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their effects, and emergency response procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in Nursing with no experience.
  • Possession of a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing and one full year of professional nursing experience.
  • Completion of at least one full year of graduate education in a professional nursing educational program.
  • Possession of a master's degree in professional nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct professional nursing care to patients.
  • Review history of medical care and assess current health conditions.
  • Evaluate the ability of patients to self-care.
  • Administer medications in accordance with the plan of care.
  • Assist providers with medical procedures.
  • Participate in patient-centered medical home initiatives.
  • Provide care coordination based on patient needs.
  • Assist patients in establishing health goals.
  • Educate patients and families to improve health outcomes.
