Brown University Health’s CMAC is the hub of capacity management and access across the system. It serves a vital role in managing patient flow and throughput at the system level and at each individual site, having visibility across all hospital operations and maintaining communication with all disciplines and teams. The CMAC is a central department with several branches charged with managing patient flow and throughput through access, capacity and flow, and transport teams with the primary goal of ensuring the right patient is in the right place at the right time. The Capacity and Flow Nurse Navigator reports to the Clinical Operations Manager of Capacity and Flow within the CMAC. For the Nurse Navigators defined shifts, s/he will have visibility of capacity at the system and site-level. This role will include responsibility for the coordination of all activities that involve patient placement and movement including those patients directly admitted, transferred, and discharge.
