The RN Clinical Navigator is responsible for providing nursing care to patients and coordinating pre-surgical and post-surgical care for clinic patients who are identified for elective surgery. The RN Clinical Navigator will provide interdisciplinary care to ensure patients have all the necessary information and requirements related to their surgery. The RN Clinical Navigator will perform all staff nurse functions and utilize all standards of care. The RN Clinical Navigator will ensure all requirements are obtained prior to the surgery date, as well as assess and triage post-operative patients. These requirements include, but are not limited to: communicating with patients regarding their upcoming surgery; providing education on procedures and pre-surgical expectations; following up with patients as required; providing patient-centered interventions; ensuring all labs are ordered and completed; following up on surgical clearances; serving as the primary liaison with patients concerning their pre-operative needs and concerns; monitoring the entire patient surgical navigation process; providing direct patient care when directed by clinical supervisor; performing post-op assessments; and participating in all patient experience improvement initiatives. The RN Clinical Navigator maintains accountability and responsibility for their patients, even though some tasks may be delegated to MAs, Surgical Coordinators, Surgical Techs, etc. Traveling to different clinic sites may be required.
