The Nurse-Navigator RN assists in the development, implementation, and function of a thoracic oncology multi-disciplinary clinic. This role involves interaction with physicians and ancillary personnel across several disciplines including surgical, medical and radiation oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, interventional radiology, and genetic counseling. Key duties include initial screening of patient history and physical examination, gathering family history, coordinating required imaging and diagnostic procedures, overseeing the multi-disciplinary clinic, and managing follow-up care. The Nurse-Navigator provides oncology services such as support at diagnosis, patient education, and coordination of care. Additionally, they offer support groups for patients, families, and significant others, coordinate appropriate referrals, and market services to the community. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
