The Nurse Midwife is a professional authorized by the Board of Registration in Nursing to practice Nurse Midwifery. Advanced education has prepared him/her to assume management responsibility of a caseload of obstetrical and gynecological patients. The Nurse Midwife provides obstetrical care to patients, which includes physical assessment, patient education, nursing care and management of problems in accordance with approved nurse midwifery guidelines. The staff nurse midwife is responsible to the Program Director, certified Nurse Midwives and/or the Executive Director of Women's and Newborn Health.
