About The Position

Provides leadership and oversight for nursing operations on the Telemetry and Med‑Surg units. Ensures high‑quality, patient‑centered care through physician‑ordered and independent nursing interventions. Promotes restorative and supportive care using the nursing process while maintaining compliance with regulatory, safety, and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license by the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
  • Minimum of one year hospital clinical experience caring for adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patients.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for leadership and staff management.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and climbing stairs.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs independently; >50 lbs with assistance/devices.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk continuously as needed during the shift.
  • Manual dexterity for clinical tasks and computer use; adequate vision, hearing, and speech.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day‑to‑day nursing operations and provide leadership and direction.
  • Ensure quality patient care, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, physicians, and leadership.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Manage budgets and resources to promote cost‑effective operations.
  • Support staff morale, professional growth, and development.
  • Supervise and support RNs, LPNs, Nursing Assistants, Nurse Techs, and students.
  • Serve as a role model and preceptor for staff and students.
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information.
  • Adapt to change, prioritize work, and support staffing needs as required.
  • Promote a safe, compassionate environment for patients and families.
  • Foster a supportive work environment that promotes teamwork.
  • Coordinate patient care activities and unit workflow.
  • Perform admission and ongoing patient assessments.
  • Establish individualized Plans of Care addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  • Promote patient engagement and education.
  • Develop discharge plans to reduce hospital readmissions.
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation in the medical record.
  • Promote continuity of care through effective handoff communication.
  • Demonstrate infection prevention practices and proper PPE use.
  • Ensure safe medication administration practices.
  • Identify safety risks and implement prevention plans.
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate competency in clinical nursing skills.
