About The Position

Overview: Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System has 167 licensed beds and 23 emergency suites. The hospital offers outstanding ancillary services including Laboratory, Radiology and Therapy services. At our Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, women can have their annual mammograms, biopsies, and can meet with a nurse navigator if needed. The Women’s Center offers six newly remodeled labor and delivery suites and has a secure nursery for the care of our newborns . It serves an eight-county region in the Lakeway Area and is equipped with modern technologies and expert staff to provide the best possible patient care. Position Summary: Is accountable for the delivery of high quality nursing care and for the administrative management of the nursing unit on a 24-hour basis. Fulfills all duties and responsibilities associated with the Nurse Manager position.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
  • Minimum Experience: Three (3) years of recent clinical experience.
  • Licensure Requirement: Current state registered nurse license.
  • RN license

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of leadership/managerial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Selects, trains, orients, develop and evaluate performance of the department staff.
  • Ensures staffing mix and allocation in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Develops departmental budgets.
  • Administers operations in accordance with budgeted parameters.
  • Maintains operational reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Coordinates and reports outcome of nursing activities performed on behalf of the patient.
  • Establishes and maintains communication between the nursing unit, medical staff and ancillary departments for the purposes of problem solving and quality improvement.
  • Utilizes appropriate lines of communication within the facility.
  • Ensures establishment and implementation of unit goals and objectives are in alignment with the facility and system.
  • Promotes a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high quality patient care utilizing evidenced based practices.
  • Protects patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications.
  • Supervises, institutes, and evaluates nursing interventions and documentation.
  • Works collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure patient care is timely, efficient, and effective.
  • Facilitates professional development of staff with accountability for staff retention.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Completes required education assignments annually.
  • Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
