About The Position

You'll lead nursing operations in a Special Needs Unit within a Long Term Care facility, reporting directly to the Director of Nursing. This role puts you at the center of quality patient care, team development, and clinical excellence. You'll supervise a multidisciplinary team including CNAs, LPNs, RNs, and Unit Clerks while shaping care delivery that makes a measurable difference in residents' lives. You'll implement strategies that drive uncompromising quality, exceptional patient safety, and an outstanding experience for residents and families. Your leadership will create an environment where staff development, empowerment, and best practices thrive.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program
  • Current NYS License to practice as a Professional Registered Nurse
  • At least 2 years recent Nurse Manager experience in a Long Term Care facility
  • Two years of nursing experience or Long Term Care experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of management systems, DOH requirements, and analytical problem-solving
  • Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Special Needs Units
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Meditech

Responsibilities

  • Lead your nursing team to meet organizational objectives and DOH requirements
  • Coordinate care across departments through interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Allocate resources to deliver efficient, compassionate, and fiscally responsible nursing care
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel
  • Ensure appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development
  • Build effective relationships with staff, patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team
  • Assess departmental needs, develop interventions, and evaluate outcomes
  • Manage multiple priorities and projects while meeting deadlines
  • Provide age-appropriate, population-specific care tailored to each resident's unique needs
