About The Position

The Clinical Manager holds 24-hour responsibility for the effective implementation of the hospital's and nursing department's philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures, and their impact on patient care within a designated unit. This role is empowered to make decisions concerning patient care, human resources, and financial management for the unit, and is ultimately responsible for the unit's overall operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate superior communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders, exhibiting high integrity, solid character, and sound judgment.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree Nursing Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Nursing, Health Care, Within three (3) years of employment Required
  • 3 years Experience and clinical competence in emergency nursing or related nursing specialty Required
  • 1 years Supervisor/management experience Required
  • Regulatory surveys experience Required
  • Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire Required
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS Provider (ACLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • National Institutes Of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) Upon Hire Required
  • PALS Provider (PALS) American Heart Association within 90 Days Required
  • Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) within 1 Year Required
  • Non-violent crisis intervention (CPI) within 90 Days Required
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in relevant area of nursing practice.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the divisional director in development, implementation and evaluation of on going service programs that assure quality nursing and patient care programs consistent with hospital mission.
  • Monitors/maintains unit compliance with regulatory, accrediting and hospital policy for patient services, and environmental and personnel safety.
  • Works collaboratively with the Educator(s) to ensure all clinical competencies are met.
  • Accurately identifies real/potential problems affecting the service and implements solutions with follow through and communication.
  • Oversees quality improvement program which monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care.
  • Consults with patients/families through primary nurse request, direct family request, and/or direct assessment of patient/family response to hospitalization.
  • Assesses patient/significant other survey responses regarding nursing care and services.
  • Responsible for on going development of staff and unit specific patient care programs.
  • Maintains current license and knowledge of nursing care requirements for all patients on the unit.
  • Assesses need for personal growth and development and takes the initiative in seeking opportunities to meet this need.
  • Is responsible for department’s operational excellence; assures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards.
  • Manage team members which include orientation, development and evaluation of personnel, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services.
  • Participates in the recruiting, interviewing and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws.
  • Evaluates their performance relative to job goals and requirements.
  • Provides coaching to staff, recommends in-service education programs, and ensures adherence to internal policies and standards.
  • Is responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization’s financial resources.
  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff.
